Have we got an August Bank Holiday weekend of events for you, Liverpool?? We’re taking the opportunity of Diego Velasquez’s “The Toilet of Venus” (better known as “The Rokeby Venus”) going on holiday to celebrate the National Gallery’s 250th birthday, to host some suitably callipygian events at the glorious Walker Art Gallery!
Bum Hunt – Sat 24th Aug & Sun 25th Aug, 10am:
Bums are hiding all around Walker Art Gallery! Can you help us hunt them down?
Sketch, photograph, stick, and interpret your favourite bums with us to create your own beautiful bum.
Bum Tour – Sat 24th Aug, 3-4pm:
Use all of your senses to experience the galleryβs treasures in an unexpected way and try your hand at some on-the-fly crafts as the bottom enthusiasts from Museum Bums share the stories of the glorious glutes on display in the gallery.
The Bottom in Art, Life Drawing – Sun 25th Aug – 2pm-4:30pm
Get to the bottom of bottoms in art with Museum Bums: discover bottoms with heroic strength, sensual swerves, queer gazes, and some bottoms which arenβt bottoms at all (or are they?).Β
Then flex your sketching muscles with our life model to explore those bottomy themes yourself with a series of quick callipygian sketches.
