February’s Bum of the Month – “Portrait of a young man standing”

Posted on 27th February, 2023

“Portrait of a young man standing” is Leonard McComb’s shiny gold statue at Manchester Art Gallery

According to the Tate website, the model was a student at the Royal West of England College of Art in our beloved Bristol (The RWA), where Leonard McComb was a drawing, painting and sculpture teacher in the 1960s. He started the sculpture in 1962, but quickly abandoned his first iteration and eventually ended up with various versions in numerous collections.

Something something shiny metal ass?
